Cherry On Top!

What a great surprise & lovely way to start the morning today when my pal Jenn who blogs at William's Girl told me to check out a post by Oilfield Trash, one of our absolute fave bloggers over at Make Daddy A Sammich (if you don't read/follow him you should - he's hilarious!). He had received the “Cherry On Top Award” which is “for beautiful blogs with that little bit extra” and then passed it along to several others, yours truly included. Totally humbling as I haven't been blogging for long and don't really know how "visible" or interesting what I have to say is so a ginormous "Thanks Oily!!!" for the award!

Now this award comes with two rules - 1) I need to write three things about myself which I love and 2) I also need to pass the award onto five other blogs which I like. Shouldn't be too hard right? Let's get started...

Three Things I Love About Me:

I love my positive outlook on life & the fact that I'm rarely a "Debbie Downer" moping around and spreading negativity to those forced to deal with me all the time. Many confuse positivity with naïveté but I say to hell with that! Being positive merely means that I refuse to let all the crap that is out there (and let's face it - on a global scale there's enough to make you want to shoot yourself some days without even getting down to what's happening on a personal level) bring me down and dictate how I feel & go about my day-to-day business.

I love that I have managed to become a responsible adult (somehow). It hasn't always been easy but I put myself thru school, got my job, pay all my own bills (on time even!), bought a car & a house and am looking at getting a dog this summer. These are all materialistic measures and don't really indicate adulthood, granted, but they are indicators that you're going in the right direction. I also have some really great people in my life (you should all know who you are - if not, I'll do better!) that make things fun & fabulous.

Lastly, I love that I am working on getting healthy this year - losing weight and feeling better about myself and things in general. My best friend being diagnosed with cancer this winter was a total bomb shell and helped me to realize that health was important and it renewed my desire to make some big changes in my life. I'm happy to say that you'll be seeing less of me in the coming months/years and couldn't be more pleased about that if I tried.

Five blogs that I love to read:

Rocket Shoes - written by a funny guy named Drew from San Fran who aside from writing some pretty interesting/funny blogs also provides his own mixtapes to go along with them. A great unique touch, if I do say so myself (and the music's pretty good!).

Are You Serious? - written by a Floridian trapped in the Midwest, this blog serves up the funny & the snark in an almost addictive way.

Puck Huffers - this is a hilarious blog run by some seriously hardcore Pittsburgh Penguins fans & really is worth a look if you like hockey & humor run together (it also helps if you hate the Detroit Red Wings...)

Oh Hello Friend - a really eclectic blog that covers design, DIY tips/ideas, blogging lifestyle & general interest - there's always something there that I learn from or am inspired by so I love reading Danni's posts

Apartment Therapy - along with its related sites (The Kitchn, Unplggd & Re-Nest) Apartment Therapy is a great place to browse to get inspired to try something new whether it's design, food, tech or green related

Again, thanks to OT for the award - I hope anyone who drops by likes what they see instead of thinking he was out of his mind!
